Why Do Kids Get Headaches?
Headaches are common in kids and can happen for various reasons. The most frequent type is a tension headache, which usually feels like a dull ache on both sides of the head and can be triggered by stress, not drinking enough water, or even poor posture while studying. Migraines, which are more intense and can make kids feel sick or sensitive to light, can also occur. Some kids might experience cluster headaches, which cause severe pain around one eye, but these are less common.
When kids have headaches, it’s important for parents to help them find relief. Encouraging them to drink plenty of water, get enough rest, and eat regular meals can make a big difference. Over-the-counter pain relievers, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen, can help, but it’s best to check with a doctor first. If a child has headaches often, or if the pain is really strong, it’s important to see a healthcare professional to rule out any serious issues .
