Depression is no laughing matter
Depression is certainly no laughing matter. We recently heard of the news regarding the celebrity chef & CNN Star, Anthony Bourdains' death (apparent suicide) last week. According to news reports the culprit was depression.
Depression is a disorder by low mood and a wide range of other possible symptoms, which will vary from person to person. This illness can develop quickly or gradually, and be brought on by life events and/or changes in body chemistry, and it is often accompanied by feelings of anxiety. It can strike anyone, and is manageable in very many cases.
This is different from feeling sad or feeling down. Unhappiness is something which everyone feels at one time or another due to particular cause. Well, depression is an intense emotions of anxiety, hopelessness and helplessness and the feeling stays within a person instead of going away.
There are certainly many signs of depression because this soul-destroying illness affects each person differently, and in its degree of severity. You may be suffering from depression if, for a long time, you experience several of the following symptoms:
Sadness that does not leave you
Feeling anxious all the time
Loss of Self Confidence
Feeling Helpless
Stress and Frustrations
Feeling Hopeless
Sleeping Problems
Constant Tiredness
Feeling of guilt
Physical pain
Avoiding friends & relatives
Difficulty to work or study
Constant thinking about death and self harm
Depression may strike anyone at any time. It may be a result of physical illness, experiences dating back to childhood, unemployment, family problems or life changing events. If you have several of the above symptoms then, you need to recognize that you may be suffering from depression and you may need to seek medical help for it. If you choose to do nothing about your depression, then it is possible that not only will this illness continue to trouble you; it may well upset the people who are close to you. Furthermore, any children you may have could be affected more than you realize by your depression, both now and in their later years. #depression #anxiety #guilt #suicide #sadness #doctor #familydoctor #physician #winnielimkhoo #neurologist #selfhelp #diet #exercise #health #mentalhealth #brain #manila #philippines
